This beautiful composition by Bhai Gurdas Ji uses simple examples from everyday life to explain profound spiritual truths. ਪਵਨ ਗਵਨ ਜੈਸੇ ਗੁਡੀਆ ਉਡਤ ਰਹੈ ਪਵਨ ਰਹਤ ਗੁਡੀ ਉਡਿ ਨ ਸਕਤ ਹੈ ॥

ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਸਮਝਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਤੰਗ ਹਵਾ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਉੱਡਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਈ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। ਇਹ ਉਦਾਹਰਨ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਡੋਰੀ ਕੀ ਮਰੋਰਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਲਟੂਆ ਫਿਰਤ ਰਹੈ ਤਾਉ ਹਾਉ ਮਿਟੈ ਗਿਰਿ ਪਰੈ ਹੁਇ ਥਕਤ ਹੈ ॥

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਲੱਟੂ ਡੋਰੀ ਦੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਝ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਘੁੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਕਤ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋਣ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਟਿਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਦਾ ਅਹਿਸਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਕੰਚਨ ਅਸੁਧ ਜਿਉ ਕੁਠਾਰੀ ਠਹਰਾਤ ਨਹੀ ਸੁਧ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਛਬਿ ਕੈ ਛਕਤ ਹੈ ॥

ਅਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਸੋਨਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਸਲ ਚਮਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿਖਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਪ ਕੇ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਆਕਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰਲੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਚਮਕ ਉੱਠਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਚਤੁਰ ਕੁੰਟ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਏਕ ਟੇਕ ਮੋਨਿ ਨ ਬਕਤ ਹੈ ॥੯੫॥

ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ। ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਇੱਕੋ-ਇੱਕ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਅਡੋਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਬੋਲਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਅਮਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ॥੯੫॥

Shabad Meaning

Bhai Gurdas Ji explains that everything in creation depends upon the power and grace of the Creator. Just as a kite, a spinning top, and gold each require the right support to fulfil their purpose, the human mind also needs the guidance of the Guru. Ego, doubt, and attachment keep a person restless, but Guru's wisdom purifies the heart and brings stability. When we place our complete trust in Gurmat, the mind becomes peaceful and remains focused on the Divine.

Conclusion

This composition reminds us that worldly strength, pride, and possessions are temporary. Lasting peace comes only through the Guru's teachings and the remembrance of Waheguru.
