ਆਵਹੁ ਸਜਣਾ ਹਉ ਦੇਖਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਜਣ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜੀਵ-ਆਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਪਿਆਸ ਜਾਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਦੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਅਸਲ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਘਰਿ ਆਪਨੜੈ ਖੜੀ ਤਕਾ ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਚਾਉ ਘਨੇਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਹੀ ਚਾਹ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਵੇ।

ਮਨਿ ਚਾਉ ਘਨੇਰਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ॥

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੇਰਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਰਾਹ ਹੈ।

ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਭਈ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਨਾਸਾ ॥

ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਨਮ-ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਡਰ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਦਰਲੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੌਲੀ-ਹੌਲੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਸਗਲੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਤੂ ਸੋਈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਭਾਇ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥

ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਚ ਉਸੇ ਇੱਕ ਜੋਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਆਪ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਜਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਸਾਚਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ॥੧॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਫਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ॥੧॥

Shabad Meaning

Guru Nanak Dev Ji teaches that the greatest desire of a human life should be to experience the presence of Waheguru. When the soul sincerely longs for the Divine, places complete trust in Him, and remembers His Naam, the Lord blesses it with spiritual peace. Such a person begins to see God's light in every living being, rises above fear and attachment, and finds freedom from the cycle of birth and death. True fulfillment comes not from worldly achievements but from living in the love of the Creator.
